Hot Lead!

With barely contained excitement, our small carpool of wargaming enthusiasts attended Hot Lead in Stratford this weekend.

The awesome part about Hot Lead is the variety of games that are showcased there – I saw games ranging from Ancient times (Greeks, Romans, Egyptians) all the way through time to Space Aged mech games. I took tons of pictures, so be sure to check them out.

Last year, I saw some great stuff that I really, really wanted to try out – I was torn between getting into a 28 mm WW2 game or Ancient game – Luckily, the decision was easy after I found 60 Celt warriors for 16$ and 20 Roman veterans for 5$ at the Bring and Buy- I snatched them up immediately, and started looking for other Celts or Romans for sale.

We spent most of the day checking out the shops and Bring and Buy inventory.  Joe bought a massive horde of zombies for his new post-apocalyptic zombie game, and although they were a bit pricey, every single one is unique! I’m quite jealous, but looking forward to playing the game.

I kept an eye out for deals and ended up grabbing 5 warlocks and a farseer for 20$ for Eric and 10 calvary and 3 chariots for my new Celt army. Pretty awesome. Granted, I already have like 4 armies in line already to be painted, so I might not get to the new stuff for a while…

At the end of the day I also found a Warmachine starter army listed for $50, but I found the seller and we worked it out that I’d buy them for $30 – A good deal, and I’ve secretly been harboring a curiosity for Warmachine that this army tickled – If anyone else is curious (or actively plays) let me know and I’d love to give it a shot

Overall it was a great day and a lot of fun – I will be going again next year for sure – Hopefully next year we can convince more people to join us!
